How can Holocaust Museum LA bring our unique collection of artifacts and survivor testimony to life and make Holocaust education innovative and accessible to students worldwide?

We are excited to partner with Academy Award-winning visual effects company Magnopus to use Augmented Reality technology – or AR – to make history come alive.

The AR app allows participants to view objects in our galleries on a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer, and move the objects around 360 degrees. Within each experience, users can tap on various interactive features for more detailed information and exploration. A virtual docent will narrate the experience and ask questions that stimulate reflection and discussion.

Because the app is downloadable to anyone across the globe, it may be used in a variety of settings – at home, in schools, or in the Museum.

“This is so much different than reading about a death camp in a textbook…. You can imagine what it might look like, but you’re actually never there, and so getting this almost personalized, animated experience of being there, I immediately thought, ‘I want to share this with my community, I want to share this with my history class, my AP Euro class.’ It’s an app that I really think is going to change education about the Holocaust and rising antisemitism for the better.”
