Finding happiness where none could be expected — like secretly getting married in the Ghetto — Zlata was a model to her children.
In the second part of this book, Ettie Zilber analyzes the impact of Zlata's experiences on her own upbringing in the US, discovering parallels with other children of Holocaust survivors. Her quest for answers leads her to Eastern Europe to follow in her mother's footsteps, honor the murdered members of her family, and collect evidence to corroborate the words of Holocaust survivors.
