About
Dialogue Across Differences is a three-session, interactive workshop bringing together participants to build trust, deepen understanding, and strengthen relationships across difference. Through guided storytelling, deep listening, and structured dialogue exercises, participants explore personal and communal identity, practice practical dialogue skills, and engage thoughtfully with topics such as fear, bias, and shared safety. The program culminates in identifying concrete actions participants can take to foster stronger inter-community trust and connection.
Each session with occur once a week, 2.5 hour duration.
March 5th: Session 1: Community Building and Identity
Building trust and connection with cohort, sharing personal and communal identities, and setting the stage for meaningful dialogue.
March 12th: Session 2: Dialogue and Skill Building
Developing and practicing dialogue skills to deepen understanding across differences.
March 19th: Session 3: Diving In- Addressing Bias, Fear and Taking Action
Moving from dialogue to action, exploring fears, shared safety and ways to create change.
Adnan Jaber is a curious, hopeful human from Jerusalem, currently living in Los Angeles. He is on a mission to bring people together through tech and dialogue. Adnan is a lecturer at UCLA teaching course “Design entrepreneurship for peace and impact”, he is former director and host of the “Beitna” social media channel, which elevates and amplifies the voices of compassionate, kind, and empathetic individuals from Palestine and Israel. Adnan founded the PeaceTech Group, a forum for 20 CEOs in peace-building, tech, and entrepreneurship organizations in Israel and Palestine. He serves as a board member for Tech2Peace, an NGO that brings Palestinians and Israelis to learn tech together through entrepreneurship and dialogue. Adnan was a curator for a World Economic Forum initiative called Global Shapers East Jerusalem, a network of inspiring young people under the age of 30 working together to address local, regional, and global challenges.
Alana Hassanein is an educator and facilitator with over a decade of classroom experience in both Jewish and public school settings. A graduate of Bennington College and UCLA’s Master's program in Education Leadership, Alana brings a deep commitment to education as a tool for social change. She is certified in dynamic mindfulness trainer through the Niroga Institute and has served in school leadership roles including Mindfulness Coordinator and Black Student Achievement Plan Coordinator. Alana has also held the position of Director of Adult Programming and Adult Learning at the Silverlake Independent Jewish Community Center, where she designed and facilitated meaningful learning opportunities for adults in her community. Grounded in Jewish values and dedicated to building bridges across lines of difference, Alana is currently a fellow in the professional program at NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change. She has engaged in multifaith and community organizing efforts through the Interfaith Center of New York, LA Voice, and Standing Together LA. Of Ashkenazi Jewish and Egyptian Muslim descent, Alana approaches this work not only professionally but personally—viewing bridge-building as a lived and ongoing practice rooted in her own identity. Her early work in museum education at The Museum of Jewish Heritage: A Living Memorial to the Holocaust in New York City, along with serving on the board of the Children’s Museum of the Arts, helped shape her commitment to memory, creativity, and community learning.
