Ruth Gruber: Photojournalist celebrates the remarkable life of Ruth Gruber, a twentieth–century pioneer and trailblazing photojournalist. Gruber’s groundbreaking work documenting the Exodus 1947 was printed in thousands of newspapers and magazines, including LIFE, and radically transformed attitudes toward the plight of Jewish refugees after the Holocaust. Soviet Jewish Life features the work of American photographer Bill Aron, who photographed the ritual and social events around Soviet synagogues as well as the brave faces of the Refuseniks – Soviet Jews who wished to emigrate but were denied permission – as well as artist Yevgeniy Fiks whose multimedia projects reexamine Soviet history.
