Holocaust Survivor Talk: Bill Harvey
Bill Harvey was born in Berehovo, Czechoslovakia. In 1938, Berehovo was annexed by Hungary under the First Vienna Award, and when Nazi Germany invaded Hungary in 1944, Bill’s family was relocated to the ghetto in Beregszász, Hungary.

They lived there for six weeks before they were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Bill stayed in Auschwitz for approximately two weeks until he was sent to Leuna, Germany to clean rubble from Allied bombings. Bill was liberated at Buchenwald in April 1945. Bill eventually settled in Los Angeles in 1950, where he worked in the cosmetology business for decades.
