Elisabeth Mann was born in Kecskemet, Hungary in 1924. Following the invasion and subsequent Nazi German occupation of Hungary in 1944, Elisabeth and her family were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau. For the next year, Elisabeth worked in forced labor camps throughout Germany.

After liberation, she moved to Sweden for several years where she became a teacher. From Sweden, she moved to Los Angeles where she raised her family.
