About
When the Nazi regime invaded The Netherlands, Ruth's family lived in their home until the chief of police received intel that their home was going to be taken over by Germans. Because he was secretly unsympathetic to the regime, he sent someone to warn Ruth’s family, allowing them to escape and seek refuge in a private home. Her father then joined the resistance in Amsterdam. Ruth spent the rest of the war hiding in homes and was eventually liberated by British troops.
