About
In the Amazon #1 bestseller Invited to Life: Finding Hope After the Holocaust, journalist B.A. Van Sise — who spent seven years meeting, interviewing, and making compelling portraits of more than 140 Holocaust survivors across the United States — writes poetically about the incredible resilience of refugees to overcome trauma and rebuild new futures, not only surviving but thriving as Americans.
Van Sise will be joined by David Lenga and Gabriella Karin, two of survivors in our Museum community who are featured in Invited to Life.
- David was born in 1927 in Łódź, Poland. He survived the Łódź Ghetto and Auschwitz. After escaping from a labor camp in Bavaria, he hid throughout southern Germany until he was liberated by American troops in May 1945.
- A Jewish girl in Bratislava, Gabriella and her family were forced into hiding during the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia. Gabriella, only 14 years old, and her family hid in a small apartment across the street from the Nazi-Slovak Gestapo.
Books will be available for purchase, and a book signing follows the program.
