In this second-generation Holocaust memoir, Gruenberg, confronted with her elderly father’s flashbacks, explores the life of her aunt Mia, who disappeared in Germany in 1941. After her father’s death, Gruenberg traveled to Vienna, Germany and Israel to explore this lost landscape, and to trace the fates of Mia, their extended family, friends and neighbors.
