About
Mary was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1927. When she was a teenager, her father was conscripted into labor service. In 1944, Nazi Germany invaded Hungary, and Mary and her family were sent to live in a ghetto. A few months later, they were sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau. After spending several months in Auschwitz, they were sent on a death march to Ravensbruck. They were liberated by Soviet troops in Malchow, a subcamp of Ravensbruck, in May 1945. Mary immigrated to the United States in 1951 where she married and had two sons. She has been actively involved with the Museum for many years.
