Welcome to Paradise: Refugees at Home in LA with Mandana Dayani
Hear from former refugees who we welcomed to America years ago and now give back to our country and, especially, the city of Angels. Their experiences illuminate why the fight to preserve welcome is so critical, and why we must take action to advocate for robust refugee and asylum programs.

About
After many years of trying, Mandana Dayani and her family finally left Iran in 1987 with a visa to go to Italy. With HIAS’ support, they were granted asylum to come to the United States. Now a longtime Los Angeles resident, Dayani has worked as a corporate attorney, talent agent, and producer of hit shows like The Rachel Zoe Project, and later co-founded I am a voter, a nonpartisan movement that aims to create a cultural shift around voting and civic engagement. She is also the co-host of The Dissenters podcast with actress and activist, Debra Messing, where they highlight the journeys of 20 of their heroes in an effort to inspire activism in others.
This program is part of the Welcome to Paradise: Refugees at Home in LA series, a partnership of HIAS and Holocaust Museum LA. Featuring Holocaust Museum LA VP of Education and Exhibits, Jordanna Gessler.
