MARLA EGLASH ABRAHAM JOINS HOLOCAUST MUSEUM LA AS CHIEF ADVANCEMENT OFFICER
Abraham Previously Worked for U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, American Jewish Committee and Jewish Federation
A veteran nonprofit advancement professional, Abraham, most recently served as the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s western regional director for a 10-state region, including Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
Previously she was director of development at American Jewish Committee, Los Angeles, and earlier served as senior vice president, endowment planning and strategic philanthropy, at the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. Abraham spent 15 years at Hebrew Union College (Los Angeles Campus) as both the interim director and associate director at HUC’s Zelikow School of Jewish Nonprofit Management.
Kean said, “Marla is a key element in our elevated efforts to meet not only the moment of addressing heightened antisemitism, hate and ignorance regarding the Holocaust but also planning for the museum’s future with its exciting ‘Building Truth’ expansion project that is under construction.”
Abraham said, “As the first institution of its kind in the country, Holocaust Museum LA is uniquely positioned to promote reflection and critical thinking through the lessons of the Holocaust. Its expansion allows us to engage more widely and deeply throughout Southern California and nationally. I am honored and moved to become part of the team to make this a reality.”
A Los Angeles native, Abraham received an Honorary Doctorate in Jewish Communal Service from Hebrew Union College, Jewish Institute of Religion; a Master of Arts in Jewish Communal Service from Hebrew Union College, Jewish Institute of Religion; a Master of Social Work in Community Organization, Planning and Administration from the University of Southern California; and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Linguistics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
